Doodle and Write Reader's Response Journal

This Doodle and Write Reader’s Response Journal was designed for use in an English Language Development classroom for middle school students in grades 6--8.  However, the activities included 
are appropriate for almost any reader.  

Each prompt corresponds with one of the common core literacy standards.  Students are asked to use their creativity and visualization skills to finish a doodle and then write about it according to the prompt. 
Each prompt requires students to cite textual evidence.  
Here is a sample prompt:
Think about the theme or central idea of what you read.  
Finish the doodle to represent the theme or central idea.   
Write about your doodle.  Include details in your writing.  
Cite evidence from the text to support your ideas.  
RL.6.-8.1; RL. 6-8.2
